MSNBS fired Matthew Dowd for having the gall to say the truth, “(Kirk) been one of the most divisive, especially divisive younger figures in this, who is constantly sort of pushing this sort of hate speech or sort of aimed at certain groups. And I always go back to, hateful thoughts lead to hateful words, which then lead to hateful actions. And I think that is the environment we are in. You can’t stop with these sort of awful thoughts you have and then saying these awful words and not expect awful actions to take place. And that’s the unfortunate environment we are in.”
All day long, I saw the media peddling false equivalency between kids who went to school to learn or went to school to pray or went to stores to shop and were gunned down, comparing that with Kirk and Trump who went to public events, with full security details, to provoke, inflame, divide, outrage and PROFIT from their core audience by monetizing hatred toward their targets. Kirk, who has long said gun deaths are the price you pay for the Second Amendment privileges, got exactly what he went there for. Headlines. Martyrdom. Infamy.
Bob, I'm taking a wild guess that you're a cisgendered white man of relative privilege and have never been on the receiving end of one of Kirk's, Trump's, or FOX's "free speech" attacks. You do not need to carry your papers with you at all times for fears you'll be stopped and disappeared to South America. You do not have outraged, ignorant Karens yelling at you in supermarkets that you should be shot on site merely because you're gender non conforming -- this latter experience as happened to me on several occasions and I find it fitting the last words Kirk choked out in this life was anti-trans rhetoric.
MAGA is allowed to be vile and snarky when Democrats are gunned down, but Democrats are expected to shut up and toe the line of decency and compassion when its reversed. Now that we no longer live in a democracy, it's game on. Should democracy be restored, we can return to civilized, spirited, debate. But thanks to Kirk, my rights have been taken away from me. My life has already been turned upside down. Meanwhile cisgendered white men are merely on the cusp of societal change. For the rest of us, that ship has sailed.
He dedicated his life to the violent overthrow of our government through stochastic terrorism and election interference. He was one of the architects of the January 7th insurrection. He helped elect Trump. His whole existence was an ongoing con. The world is better off without him. He died doing what he loved, trying to get other people killed.
The right-wing has always tried to build a brief against the left as a legion of terrorists and baby-eaters, so it's predictable that they will immediately jump on this and every shooting as somehow being further "proof" of the Left's profound perfidy. But if you listen to how Trump, Hegseth, Noem, Homan, etc. etc., as well as commentators like Kirk, have intentionally conflated violence with justice, it's absurd to make out the Left as the villains.
Agreed. But since I can't mourn him sincerely, i've chosen that after 24 hours here.I'm just gonna forget he ever existed.
It's a fitting tibute to Kirk that his death will escalate the division and hatred in the US. He'd be pleased.

Orvin was Charlie Kirk.
I'm sure Charlie would give you the same thoughtful consideration.
Not really!
