No, I Will Not Forgive The Voters Who Did This To My Country
George Carlin observed that stupid ignorant voters give us stupid ignorant politicians.

WASHINGTON, DC – There’s a school of thought emerging that warns us against shaming the people who might be regretting their vote for Donald Trump in 2024. The idea is that we should reach out to them and welcome them back into the Normals clubhouse in hopes they’ll help us push back. Malice toward none, charity for all, as President Lincoln said in his Second Inaugural address.
As we observe Donald’s death squads gunning down American citizens in the streets while he indiscriminately destabilizes the world order, while he tortures immigrants, while he forces the trans community into hiding, while he exacerbates the climate crisis crushing all the tipping points, and while he scrawls his name in shit on everything from the White House to the Kennedy Center – you know, the daily horror show playing out on our screens – I’m not feeling very charitable, Mr. Lincoln.
But look, I’m not running for Congress, either, so I’ll just say it: I will never stop referring to the 77 million voters who re-elected Donald Trump as suckers and dummies. I will always and forever hold them responsible for the disruption pornography that used to be flawed but normal American politics.
George Carlin observed that stupid ignorant voters give us stupid ignorant politicians. Garbage in, garbage out, he said. If you voted for Donald knowing about his criminality, his cozy relationship with tyrants, his self-dealing – if you knew about January 6; his criminally negligent response to COVID, leading to 400,000 American suffocation deaths during his final 10 months in office; and of course his screechy propaganda war against the truth, against reality, and against American values, you deserve not only the crap end of the lollipop but also the shame and ridicule of those who tried to warn you.
When I’m told that we shouldn’t shame these people, I don’t know who they’re talking about. I have no idea specifically which Trump voters regret their choice versus the 35 percent or so who will never regret it. How on Earth do we pick the gnat shit out of the pepper? Sorry, but they’re all equally responsible for this crisis, regret or not. No takebacks. In fact, I would argue that the ones who regret it now should’ve known better and are therefore more guilty for manifesting such a colossal disaster.
I get their justifications, as twisted and nearsighted as they are. Some of these people voted for Donald because they couldn’t bring themselves to support a Black woman. Some of them voted for him because they were concerned about grocery prices. Some voters, including many liberals, decided not to vote for president at all and either stayed home or skipped that part of their ballots, allowing Donald to win with a narrow plurality of the popular vote and therefore fueling the bogus claim of a mandate for his horrendous Project 2025 agenda.
However they may have rationalized it, they ultimately entered into a Faustian bargain to hold their noses on all the horrendous Donald things as long as he fixed what they believed was wrong with the economy under President Biden.
To be clear, two years ago inflation due to COVID-related supply chain issues (and corporate price gouging) was on its way down to normal levels. Job creation was robust. Manufacturing, which sank into a recession during Donald’s first term, prior to COVID, was booming. Everything that should’ve been trending down was trending down, everything that should’ve been improving was improving. Despite the numbers, these voters, who we’re supposed to forgive, decided, Screw all that, let’s bring back Generalissimo Crankypants and all the accompanying fascistic chaos. Why? Because he’s allegedly the businessman, he’s the CEO who builds things. As long as he fixes the economy, we’ll put up with his shenanigans, they bargained.
Moments later…
U.S. manufacturing jobs in December continued an eight-month skid that began last spring after President Donald Trump rolled out aggressive import taxes that he pledged would lead to a resurgence of blue-collar jobs by reshuffling world trade to favor U.S. workers.
And:
U.S. manufacturing activity slumped to a 14-month low in December, with new orders contracting further and input costs grinding higher as the sector continued to bear the imprint of President Donald Trump’s import tariffs.
And:
The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported the manufacturing industry lost 8,000 jobs in December 2025, according to a Jan. 9 news release.
And:
Food prices climbed sharply in December, providing little relief to consumers at the grocery store and adding to the political pressure on President Trump to improve affordability.
To all those voters who ignored fascism for the foolish prospect of a stronger economy… good job. Economists and non-economists alike warned throughout Donald’s 2024 campaign that his repeated promise to implement tariffs – punitive tax hikes on American consumers – as his sole economic policy proposal would cause inflation to rise again. Warnings were issued. And yet, these voters chose him anyway. And in this selfish ignorant bargain they made with themselves, they got all the fascism they downplayed and ended up triggering a worsening economy, with all the easily predictable job losses and rising prices at the grocery store, dragging America to the brink of stagflation. And, yeah, as bad as things are now, they’re on the verge of getting much worse.
But we’re supposed to give these people hugs and let by-gones be by-gones?
If you can bring yourself to that place of forgiveness, I genuinely admire you for that. I can’t do it myself. It’s a them thing, not a me thing. These are chronological grownups with agency and they need to be held responsible for making an historically catastrophic choice, contributing to the end of democracy among many other previously avoidable nightmares. They’ve earned our verbal malice. They don’t deserve our charity. And I will spend the rest of my life feeling nothing but contempt for what they’ve done to us.

Thank you for speaking out so eloquently. I support this point of view. People who didn’t vote or voted for Trump deserve and own this mess. I also believe the lack of robust argument from the democrats fed into it. My fear, at 78, is I will never see the recovery from this disaster.
Agreed. The part I'm angriest about? The emotional and psychological torture this asshole has put my teenage daughter through. Thanks to him, she has panic attacks now.
F**k every last idiot who voted for this imbecile.
