Andrew Sullivan's Astonishing Meltdown

The NY Mag columnist's attack on Democrats is almost Trumpian in its offensiveness.

Don’t look, but Andrew Sullivan is having a very serious meltdown. The New York Magazine columnist has gone on an astonishing screed against the Democratic candidates running for president that is almost Trumpian in its offensiveness. To Sullivan, the Democratic candidates for President are so bad that the game is already up and the party should concede to Donald Trump.

The field, he declares, “has largely wilted upon inspection.” Why? Because Sullivan suspects that “Warren will win the nomination and dutifully lose the election just like Mondale, Dukakis, Gore, Kerry, and the second Clinton.” According to Sullivan, Warren “has that quintessential perfume of smug, well-meaning, mediocre doom that Democrats simply cannot resist.”

Never mind the consistent polling data that shows Warren beating Trump, and never mind the compelling evidence that shows Warren doing better in the electoral college than every other Democrat against Trump. Sullivan knows best because presumably he…
