It has been an eventful week to say the least, from “The Slap” to Russia’s dramatic decision to change strategy in Ukraine, so lots to discuss.
A Banter reader responds to my piece on Muhammed Ali’s stunning victory over George Foreman in 1974, and how Ukraine adopted his strategy to nullify Russia:
Great article and analogy. It is clear why trump idolizes Putin: apart from Putin more than likely having trump by the balls financially and probably other dirt- they are exactly alike. Just like trump, nobody can tell Putin anything he doesn’t want to hear so he basically blundered into this disastrous -I hope- situation. Like him or not, the US owes Joe Biden massive gratitude for defeating trump in 2020. We can only hope and pray that Trumpism dies out before it and the disgusting republican party can destroy our democracy.
You make a really good point. The Biden campaign in 2020 was classic Ali rope-a-dope. I did a lot of research into Biden’s campaign manager, Jen O'Malley Dillon, during the election and came away extremely impressed. She completely overhauled Biden’s flagging primary operation and turned it into one of the best oiled campaign machines in general election history.
