Within just four weeks, Russia has moved from Fox News-style propaganda to arresting thousands of protesters, encouraging violence against dissenters, and the kind of Big Brother repression the Soviet Union was infamous for. As the war continues to go badly and Russia’s economy implodes, Putin’s regime is just getting started.
What is unfolding in Russia is the nightmare we narrowly avoided and the future we face should Republicans successfully murder democracy in America. We only have to look at the very recent past to see the same evil within the Republican Party and its base. But far worse.
