WASHINGTON, DC – “It’s not theirs, it’s mine,” Donald Trump reportedly said to advisers about the top secret documents kept in the basement under his Mar-a-lago country club. “It’s” refers to the documents themselves, indicating that Trump believes he outright owns the documents. In other words, the quote, if accurate, amounts to a confession. And, ironically, it looks like a pronoun could help land Trump in leg irons.

One of the big questions we’ve all been asking ourselves since the FBI searched Mar-a-lago is, “Why?” Why did Trump want to keep the top secret information for himself? Why is he risking upwards to 20 years in prison?
