The one thing we also need to account for -- a dark secret that the media doesn't want you to hear -- is that these polls only reflect the opinions of people who take polls. Every day, my texts and/or emails and/or screened phone calls are deluged with invitations to let my opinion be known -- and like many people, I just don't have the time or the interest to do so. I used to work on opinion polls and product samplings at the mall and let me tell ya, the only people who participated were miserable and desperate for anyone to hear their opinion on anything. That's why the Melissa McCarthy "Hidden Valley Ranch" SNL skit is so spot on and an absolute classic. Polls be damned, voting is all that will matter. And yet, the media gooses the results by making swayable voters feel there is some kinda consensus going on.

I was catching up on the Alex Wagner show on MSNBC, so it would have been the 5/23 or 5/22 show, and was so relieved to see someone come on and talk about how polls in no way reflect voter opinion or behavior -- and even in a segment about this subject, Alex kept referring to the poll data she had as "all Americans" and "voters believe" and the guy kept correcting her. But she seemed so entrenched that polls are a scientific reflection as to what yard line the game is on at this very moment. This is how major media wags the dog.

I assume the “R.V.” Indicates the polls were of registered voters (as opposed to likely voters). In other words, of people who can vote but don’t necessarily actually do.

As recent election results show, the *opinions* of “RV’s” don’t match the *actions* of actual voters.

Which isn’t surprising when you recognize the purpose of polls isn’t to report on public views nearly as much as to shape public views.

I stopped worrying about trolls...I mean polls...after the Red Wave turned into a Red Dribble. In 35+ special elections since 2022 Democratic candidates have outperformed EVERY SINGLE TIME. They have won over 80% of the elections. If you rely on polls to win in this day and age you are going to be sorely disappointed. I frankly discount them and any professional in the field of elections pretty much admits at this point they are a political statement that say what the poll funders want to show. The media has a vested interest in portraying this election as a close one. Trump has never won the popular vote and I suspect, barring a repeat of 2008 or 1929, Trump and the GOP are going to get trounced this election.

Carter also had the hostage situation dogging him (and prolonged by traitor Reagan) all his last year.

Regarding infrastructure, Trump did build some small amount of new border wall. Music to maga's ears.

Just to emphasize your comment: BBC__The Trump administration say they've completed more than 400 miles of border wall since then.

It's 452 miles (727 km) in total, according to the latest US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) information (4 January 2021).

However, only 80 miles of new barriers have been built where there were none before - that includes 47 miles of primary wall, and 33 miles of secondary wall built to reinforce the initial barrier.

The vast majority of the 452 miles is replacing existing structures at the border that had been built by previous US administrations.

Thanks for expanding my comment. I was too tired to find this before posting. Gee, I wonder if the maga rubes know Bannon ripped them off with his Build the Wall charity. They live in their own bubble so I find it doubtful that they do.

I like that “assuming that all voters all graduated from Harvard Business School” line. Terrific snark, that might get past a lot of folks. 🤔😉😊
