I wouldn't hold my breath that most mainstream media won't screw this up again. It's a mistake to think that the biggest media outlets prioritize truth or integrity in reporting or care about upholding democracy. However well-intentioned some may be on an individual level, the work of journalists and other media content producers is, in the end, controlled by their billionaire corporate owners who don't actually want democracy or a free press as neither are in their best interest.
