MSM are doing their level best to help Trump. They want Trump to win because long term that's what helps them. They are not even trying to hide its one-sidedness at this point. They got Trump elected before and they are trying to do it again, with a lot of help from extremely wealthy owners. They'll help democracy burn for share price. Media has become no different than anyone else with too much money and influence.

You wrote a clear, concise yet elegant description of the state we’re in. At the same time that you explained the once in 240 year threat that hovers over us, you made clear how preposterous is the fact that Trump became president. The original sin of the media was taking this clown seriously. 90 years ago a much smarter, more ruthless clown was on the way to a serious Presidential run, but without the support of the national press or his own party. However in his own Southern seat of power he was effectively a dictator. If Huey Long were alive today, he would be the Republican candidate.
If you've ever worked in corporate America, you know all they care about are sales in the present quarter. Maximizing ratings and clicks to drive revenue. Do they care Trump might revoke their licenses, kill or jail their talent? No. That is next quarter, this is now. Media oligarchs know they can "get in line" with a dictator and become very lucrative propaganda outfits. Any talent who thinks Trump might come at them will deliver the horse race ratings 11/5-11/15, cash in their golden parachute, and leave the country (Maddow, Kimmel, Colbert, Haberman ...). And the rest of us will be left to fit in or perish within the new regime. I've noticed lately, CNN online headlines are almost decidedly pro-Trump in the overnight hours and early AM, but then drift center by mid-day. Seems like deceptive swing-state targeting there before all the Coasties wake up.
A similar metaphor would be, a TV reporter and camera operator are standing on a sidewalk reporting a local news story. They see a child in the street, in danger of getting run over. Do they rescue the child or call on someone to help the child? Or do they just point their camera at the kid, wait patiently for the inevitable and preventable tragedy to happen, and then report the "breaking news" as an impartial observer?
This report is ‘spot-on’! I have been saying that this clown shouldn’t ever get one foot in the Oval Office, yet, he’s calling scammed his way there in 2015, with Putin’s help. He tried to return in 2029, but the American election system was better prepared.
I hope that they are well prepared here in 2024, because Trump is pulling out all his ‘dictator’ stops on this one. He has every communist, fascist, dictator in the euros working to get him in office.
Trump hasn’t changed his entire life. He was scum in the mid 70s, and he’s still scum.
…”There was no point in seeking to convert the intellectuals. For intellectuals would never be converted and would anyway always yield to the stronger, and this will always be "the man in the street." Arguments must therefore be crude, clear and forcible, and appeal to emotions and instincts, not the intellect. Truth was unimportant and entirely subordinate to tactics and psychology.”
And the owner of the LA Times nixed their endorsement of Harris insisting they instead review the policies of each candidate. The Editor had the integrity to resign.
Yes, too many in the media enabled Trump (Too many is a vague phrase; I know it is too many, without using percentages of media). Trump has often been described as "entertaining," The media always enables entertainers; 'entertaining' news draws readers and viewers. And while he's far from a typical candidate, many Americans are drawn to his outlandish remarks and outright falsehoods, seeking entertainment rather than factual scrutiny. For those who feel left behind or fear the future, his theatrics offer a sense of relief or distraction.
Progressives must acknowledge this dynamic. We need leaders who can captivate while also delivering substance—Obama excelled at this balance. Even the Harris campaign understands the power of entertainment, as shown by its strategic use of endorsements from celebrities and musicians to engage and energize voters.
Campaigns can balance substance with appeal. News institutions and journalism schools are late in figuring out this calculation and years behind in dealing with a candidate like Trump..

The corporate media has turned into a dumpster fire of flaming horse poo and vulture vomit.
— THESE ARE LIES …. !!!!! — AND, NEGATIVE
PROPAGANDA …. !!!!!!!
Well said. This has been ridiculous!
The Stakes as opposed to the odds is an excellent and important distinction.
…that’s how propaganda works

The consequences for the abhorrent behavior of the media this cycle are existential for them. They did this to themselves.
