I cannot accept the sad fact of a Republican wave here. It's terrible if they do win and it's the twilight of democracy if they were successful at the ballot box. The theory espoused by Bob concerning the supposed favorability of repugnicans in the polls could result in these corrupt politicians declaring that the voting was rigged, especially if Democrats do prevail. We will be in the Trump maelstrom of the "Big Lie" during this election cycle. They cannot do this in a democratic society. Unfortunately, we have to get ready for their demanding recounts and stating that the elections were rigged. There will be so much chaos inserted in the process on Tuesday.

How would people on the far right feel if an 82-year-old uncle or grandfather of theirs were to be smashed on the head with a hammer? I'm sure they would react with horror, but since it was the person of Nancy Pelosi's husband whose head was being struck with a hammer, then they can react with ridiculous conspiracy theories to deflect from the real tragedy of a an elderly man being attacked by a deranged intruder. How dare they lose their humanity in such a situation! MAGA repugnicans are far more extreme and violent, as you accurately indicate.

The overall discussion about the pitfalls of social media was absorbing in general. I would agree with Bob's cynicism regarding the lack of positives regarding social media. The misuse of social media has resulted in so many abuses, mostly on the far right, and the incitement of violence through so many deranged users.

I cannot believe that the former president will announce his run for the White House in mid-November. I'd rather see Merrick Garland finally indicting him right after the midterms. Plus millions of other exhausted Americans over seeing his continued presence in American politics long after his ignominious fall from grace. And yet, he still has so many followers. Go figure!

I agree with Ben's pick for worst behavior by someone on the far right, which this week was Donald, Jr. He is a most despicable character who should be banned from all social media for his execrable comments. But we all know he won't be, sadly.

Concluding, I will be very devastated if those polls do prove right on my birthday, this Election Day 2022!

When you zoom back on the minutiae of what's happening right now, you see the fundamental flaw that will collapse humanity. If cancer is the uncontrollable spread of rapidly reproducing cells that eventually kill the host organism, then Earth is the host and mankind is the cancer. Between deforestation, pollution, carbon emissions, drought, and the sheer magnitude of what it takes to provide food, water and energy to 8 billion people (up from 2 billion in 1900), there's no way Earth will continue to sustain life. Mankind has put profit as the main driver to switch to renewable energy - can't do it until it's profitable. Same with recycling. Keep milking the teet of oil while there's a drop in the ground to profit from. Keep polluting oceans and filling the soil with toxic materials. Add in all the bloodshed, the threat of nuclear war, pandemics, etc. (you could go on forever -- let's not forget the threat of space debris in the satellite orbit). Mankind is done. The solution to all of this is doable, but needs to be well thought out, collaborative, and implemented at great sacrifice to profits and convenience for a good 20 years before we see a return. But mankind doesn't roll that way. We're MAD NOW and therefore constantly protest vote. And so nothing gets done and never will.

If I ran the DOJ, Trump would be indicted two minutes after the polls close in Hawaii on Tuesday.
