According to the media monitoring service Critical Mention, the term ‘Critical Race Theory’ has been mentioned 1,860 times on Fox News in 2021 alone. Last year the term was used on the network just 132 times. What is going on? Why is the right so obsessed with Critical Race Theory, and what has changed since 2020? Let’s get this chat thread going!
What a misnomer. There is nothing theoretical about CRT. It’s history plain and simple. And this is not a rewriting of history either; it is a more complete history. Oppressors aren’t used to sharing a classroom with the oppressed. The truth about the Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade, Jim Crow, police shooting innocent Black people every other week, the ethnic cleansing of Indigenous peoples, etc., all of it makes white people feel uncomfortable. How dare we make White people feel uncomfortable!
The republicans have absolutely nothing to run on. No policies, no interest in governing and not the slightest interest in the well being of our country or its citizens. The one thing they are really good at- having practiced it day in and day out for years- is smearing any ideas, people or institutions on the left that threaten their piggish snouts position at the trough of a broken capitalism or an easily abused government.
The ONLY thing honest answer Republicans could give to "What have you accomplished while in office?" is "Stopping the Democrats from making your lives better."
I feel as if they are using the words to bait their base. They describe it in a negative way, which usually means “black and brown people are trying to marginalize whites eeeek!” A reasonably minded person cannot have a conversation with those who watch and believe in the Fox News bubble. I’m so concerned about voting rights. I see that as critical to pass ASAP.
Critical race theory is just what it says. It is a theoretical framework from which we approach how race intersects and impacts the society in which we live.
The right wing string pullers and politicians use that as a catch-all marketing buzz phrase to scare the ignorant people that actually listen to them. The ignorant white people couldn't actually tell you what it is but what they're trained to hear is "white people bad". It's a manipulation ploy and nothing more.
Why the manipulation? Because Biden is outrageously popular and there's some rock solid legislation being passed that will help millions of people including those ignorant white people. Those ignorant white people might actually question the drek they've been fed by the string pullers and politicians as they're benefitting from that rock solid legislation that's helping them (legislation that perished on Moscow Mitch's desk for 4+ years). It's a pathetic grasp at keeping people in line. It's also indicative of the fear the string pullers and politicians have over the realization of their city of lies getting devoured by the Godzilla of reality.

I doubt it. They've utterly refused to see what's right in front of them for years. *NO* reason to expect suddenly get a clue now.
For anyone wondering why CRT has blown up among the conservatives and the GOP I would direct you to Lee Atwater's infamous N-blank, N-blank, N-blank interview. Its the same old racism with a more understandable meme than school bussing or food stamps precisely because poor white people may have food stamps or get bussed to a particular school. It's racism made easy ya'll.
Totally agree. The republicans needing to enlist and manipulate an ignorant voting base go straight to racism. Ask any of these fools what republicans have done for them in the last 60 years, they will be unable to respond but for some bullshit about judges and keeping immigrants out.
What "theory"? There is nothing theoretic about history and history must be taught though the intent of the current law initiatives is to sweep history under the rug. Just say you are not talking about c.r. theory.

I broadly agree with this. I do think some strains of CRT are excessive though. Unfortunately the right wing media tends to amplify them...

Nothing to run on indeed.

Yes, I think they are trying to tie CRT to voting rights. They're claiming both are extremely radical ideas, which is of course completely insane.

I hope this Godzilla asks, "What's for dessert?"

"DON'T LISTEN TO THEM, FOR THEY ARE THUG SCUM!!! LISTEN TO US, BECAUSE WE'RE THE ONE'S HONESTLY PRESENTING AMERICAN HISTORY AS WE SEE IT!!!"

I think that's a very astute observation. It's basically the new 'N' word.
