I worked for George McGovern in 1972. I was a city kid. I bristled at the attitudes shown by Sixties leftovers. Pandering to the out of touch, extreme elements of the Left has the potential to create a repeat of 1972 without the need to cheat by Republicans.

You totally nailed it. I'm trans and get just as much pushback from trans activists as I do people in MAGA hats. I have a blog that fuses stories from my individual gender journey with observation on gender roles in pop culture and continually get comments or DM's from "extremely woke people" keep telling me that I'm "doing it wrong", "not REALLY transgender", and that my penchant for dresses, makeup and a dash of glam is "perpetuating the hetero-normative stereotype of women" or my gender authentic Insta posts are simply "re-enacting the male masturbatory fantasy". The Chris Farley-esque use of "ample quotations" is intended. So there's in-fighting within the LGBTQ-how-many-more-letters-do-we-need-to-add-to-be-all-inclusive? community, which has lumped sexual orientation and gender identity into a single, confused collective, and within the T community which has more sub identities than one can count. Meanwhile, the Right are in lock-step. Blind faith to the party. Loyalty above morality. Feelings above facts. To hell with life on Earth, eternal glory awaits. And we wonder why Trump is a shoo-in for re-election in 2020 and likely 2024 (if there is an election).

“The social justice left however, now demands that everyone must defer to them in a manner that satisfies them, regardless of the broader consequences.”

Indeed. I am so put off by the “It’s not enough that you support my cause. You MUST also be as militant as I am.” attitude that my support could easily become ambivalence.

“Yeah, you should be treated fairly, I’d never oppose that. But you won’t see me at any more LGBTQ rallies. Well done.”
