Trump had no intention of "being" President, he's only squatting in the office to erase his legal problems, expand tax cuts for the rich, do favors for billionaires to nurture his fragile ego, and exact revenge on his critics. All of the crises facing Planet Earth will be tossed in the bin and set aflame. Bird Flu will become a pandemic. Europe will collapse. Global Warming will destroy countless cities with floods, blizzards, hurricanes, derechos, and one can only assume, Sharknadoes. Space junk will destroy the Internet. Water will become undrinkable, air unbreathable, and food non-consumable. The economy will collapse. AI will take all the jobs. And Chappell Roan will be snubbed at the Grammys.

Real reason for President Musk to cut the bill:

GOP in the House struck most of those elements from the bill - including a provision limiting investments in China which Democrats said would have conflicted with Musk's interests.

"He clearly does not want to answer questions about how much he plans to expand his businesses in China and how many American technologies he plans to sell". www.reuters.com/world/us/us-congress-scrambles-try-avert-looming-shutdown-after-trump-demand-rejected-2024-12-20/

He is not Moron. He got what he wanted.

The significant reduction in the size of the U.S. federal funding bill—from 1,547 pages in the original proposal to 118 pages in the final law—was achieved by removing numerous additional provisions and policy riders that were initially included.

Key Removals:

1. Congressional Pay Raises: The original bill proposed a 4% salary increase for members of Congress, which was eliminated in the final version.

2. State Department's Global Engagement Center: Reauthorization for this center, criticized for promoting online censorship, was also removed.

3. Health Care Reforms: Various health care reforms, measures to crack down on junk fees were jettisoned from the legislation.

Notable omissions include:

4. Debt Ceiling Suspension: The original bill proposed a two-year suspension of the federal debt limit, aligning with President-elect Donald Trump's advocacy. This provision was not included in the final legislation.

5. Pediatric Cancer Research Funding: Funding for the Gabriella Miller Kids First Pediatric Research Program, which supports research into childhood cancers, was removed from the final bill.

6. Protections for Food Stamp Benefits: Provisions aimed at continuing protections for food stamp benefits were excluded from the final legislation.

7. Pharmacy Benefit Manager Reforms: Measures intended to reform pharmacy benefit managers were omitted in the final version of the bill.

8. Measures to Combat Nonconsensual Intimate Imagery: A bipartisan effort to address the issue of nonconsensual intimate imagery, supported by social media companies, was removed following opposition from key figures.

These removals contributed to the significant reduction in the bill's length, from 1,547 pages in the original proposal to 118 pages in the final law.

A significant factor in the opposition from President-elect Donald Trump and Elon Musk to the original U.S. federal funding bill was the inclusion of Title V—Comprehensive Outbound Investment National Security Act of 2024. This provision aimed to regulate and potentially restrict U.S. investments in certain foreign countries, notably China, to address national security concerns.

Key Points:

Elon Musk's Business Interests: Elon Musk, as the CEO of Tesla, has substantial investments in China, including a major manufacturing facility in Shanghai that contributes significantly to Tesla's global production and revenue. The proposed investment restrictions could have adversely affected these operations. Critics, such as Representative Rosa DeLauro, have accused Republicans of protecting Musk's Chinese investments by removing these provisions. REUTERS

Political Influence: Musk utilized his considerable influence, particularly through social media platforms, to campaign against the bill. His opposition was instrumental in swaying Republican lawmakers and President-elect Trump to reject the original proposal. This intervention led to the removal of the contentious provisions, including Title V, in the final version of the bill. THE ATLANTIC

National Security Concerns: Proponents of Title V argued that regulating outbound investments was crucial for safeguarding U.S. national security interests, especially in preventing the transfer of sensitive technologies to rival nations. The removal of this provision has sparked a debate over balancing economic interests with national security imperatives.

Here is the only reason why President Musk cancelled the original bill:

Rep. Rosa DeLauro said in a letter that Musk may have upended the government funding process to remove a provisions to regulate U.S. investments in China given his "extensive investments in China in key sectors and personal ties with CCP leadership, questions the real reason for Musk’s opposition to the original funding deal."

Trump's post about the Panama canal reveals yet another item on Musk's wishlist.

Trump doesn't know, or give a shit, about the Panama canal, it doesn't affect him at all.

For multiple reasons, the post was certainly written by Musk.

Aside from the good grammar, the detail and length, two phrases, and one motive, jump out.

“Please be guided” is commonly used only in South Africa.

“Magnanimous gesture” is used often, including recently, by Musk himself, while wallowing in his own Xitter.

Musk's ships travel through the canal, and I don't know how big his ships are, or how often they use it….but passage can cost as much as $450,000 per ship.

Nothing to see here.

Just Musk using Trump's megaphone AGAIN to encourage policies, or conflicts, that will benefit him personally.

Why is all the Musk outrage commentary jumping over the fact that Musk joined nearly all House Democrats (n=174) in opposing this particular spending bill?
