The Senate acquits Donald Trump in his second impeachment trial and Mike wins his bet with Ben, who opts to read a "hostage statement" Mike wrote on his behalf.
Just seven Republicans voted to convict, while 43 others hid behind procedural excuses and other nonsense. Mitch McConnell voted "not guilty," but later declared that Trump was in fact responsible for the insurrection. (Ok then.) The case argued by the House managers was excellent, but was tainted on the last day as they asked for, and received permission to call witnesses, only to reverse themselves hours later. At the heart of the matter was an expletive-laden phone call Trump had with Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy on the day of the insurrection. Listen above (and comment below!)
