Yes, the media must let go of any normalizing of this criminal as he takes over the reins of power in a month or so. That is why I and many millions of others have given up on mainstream news and have stopped watching MSNBC or CNN. These news outlets eventually helped Chump by "sane-washing" him over and over and, only when it was getting late, they decided to report some damaging news about him like his ramblings and Alzheimer-fueled campaign rallies. It still didn't prevent about 51 percent of the American voting population into voting for him on November 5. I'll never know why!

We will soon experience a shit show under the second Chump administration and it won't be pretty by any means. I call the imminent events after January 20 as the American Apocalypse and I hope I'm wrong, but I seriously don't think so, given the moral turpitude of the incoming president and his freaking circus of a cabinet that's he's forming right now.

As for all of this rumbling about Dump's horrible picks, I'm already tuning out about these alarming new developments occurring before he's even inaugurated, which I will certainly not watch on January 20. The whole bunch should easily be turned down by the Senate, but who knows if they would even do this since they're in thrall to their Golden Leader.

I'm sorry to hear that Justin is leaving The Banter. I wish him all the best in pursuing his new professional endeavors.

I found your coverage of the insurance CEO's murder very disturbing. You spent a good deal of time discussing whether or not he was guilty, which to me is immaterial. This news story has been about normalizing and romanticizing vigilante justice. I don't think this shooter or any one else should be deciding extra-judicially who needs executing. Seems simple to me.

The media needs to let go of any narrative about a Trump political agenda (as in, "why is he doing this?") -- he has none, and thats why he floods society with chaos. All he cares about his not being held accountable for his crimes, criming more crimes, and enriching himself and his family (by which I mean the chosen ones, Barron and Ivanka). Musk and Vivek will retool the government and legal system to the will of business tycoons, while Vance will dictate the evangelical religious agenda. That's it. The US army will be retooled to keep the US population under lockdown (a better chance of winning here as the MAGA base will cheer it on). And they'll get away with it too -- until the next pandemic, skyrocketing inflation (fruit ain't gonna pick itself), measles, polio, European war, pollution, climate change, and lack of guardrails for safe food, water, air, and public infrastructure wreak their havoc.

Just read that Mr. Ogre will be leaving Le Banter. May I quietly suggest that unless Ben is determined to fly solo, that he bring on two co-hosts, not just one? Ideally one of them would be a woman; even if her politics are little to the right of center. The third person could be a floater, man or woman; maybe even the occasional Banter reader.

In the words of Schoolhouse Rock, "Three is a Magic Number".

The “Joni Ernst is better than Hegseth so I guess she’d be ok. At least she’s not subterranean.” idea is an example of Donny Convict having gotten you to lower standards. It’s true that she’s “better” than Hegseth, but the idea she’s acceptable at all should still be opposed.

I mean, really, all of Trump’s picks should be opposed. Let Republicans pass them all on their on and take all the blame.

That should happen, of course. Dems have GOT to stop coming to R’s rescue. On nominations, on electing Speakers, on passing budgets, on anything.

The nomination of anyone who is unfit or unqualified should be opposed, none ever viewed in any way as “at least they aren’t ____”. Even if it’s the ninth person Donny is trying to get thru and exhaustion is settling in and ads just want to be done with objecting.

Hell, Ds basic stance on anything Donny should be “No.” Take over the R playbook and slow everything to a crawl.
