While most of us are locked into our votes, we cannot discount how prevalent, pervasive, and persuasive the Russian social media propaganda machine has been and will continue to be. Look at Janet Jackson's misinformed comments and the shocking amount of black rap stars who are all in on Trump. There was a news story last night about how entrenched the Springfield story is with the MAGA base -- everyone interviewed cited "I saw it on Facebook". While it's likely Harris will win the general, it's seeming more and more likely Trump will win the Electoral by a hair -- and if he loses it by a hair, it will be in the courts for months. What helps me sleep at night is remembering how far off the polls were in 2022 with the Red Wave.

And one further thought -- for poor old Liz and the death of conservatives. The whole reason MAGA took hold was that MAGA claimed God. Here in the US, around the world, and throughout the course of humanity, elites have exploited the commoners' fear of death to deploy the original con "believe this fairy tale, don't ask questions, stay in line, do as you're told, and give us all of your money and power in this life, and you'll be rewarded in the next." Simple as that. In the Middle East, and in the Midwest, the story is the same. This is how societies fall. People stop thinking. Logic and empathy are buried by ignorance and greed. And those who can't earn, take. Money. Land. Power. There's no reason why Americans can't get along, same as there's no reason why the citizens of Israel and Palestine can't. "My fairy tale is right, yours is wrong, so die." At least the Russians are open about it, their war is a land grab, pure and simple. No need to bring God into it. If the Dems truly want to vanquish MAGA, they need to claim God. But they won't. Can't hurt the feelings of atheists. I'd eschew organized religion altogether and simply tell the MAGA base, "If there is an afterlife, and only hateful people get in, would that be heaven or hell? If God created everything, what would he think about you demonizing and subjugating 75% of the people he created or desecrating the one planet he gave you?"

"According to FiveThirtyEight’s prediction model, Kamala Harris is now comfortably favored to win the presidency"

And they predicted much the same thing eight years ago for Clinton.

We must not slow even the slightest until the race is actually won.

As I’ve said elsewhere, how does one, one wonders, define “conservative” these days? Even generously assuming that “conservative” and “MAGA” are not synonymous, what does “conservative” actually mean? Support for the thoroughly-discredited “supply-side” economic philosophy? Knee-jerk opposition to abortion? Opposition to legitimate rights for and social acceptance of LGBTQetc. and non-WASP individuals? Small government for the sole sake of small government, with no argument for justification?

Is there anything about traditional “conservative” that hasn’t been either co-opted by MAGA neofascism or is otherwise philosophically obsolete?🤔😉😊

"Conservative" hasn't been conservative literally for decades.

True conservative positions and policies, things like smaller government, fiscal responsibility, and the rule of law have bee *the opposite* of what Republicans and other so-called conservatives have been pushing since at least the early 70's.
