Can you do a "deep dive" on Project 2025? I don't see anyone in the MSM talking about this, but if Trump wins in November, he is going to enact this plan and it will end democracy in the United States.
So many good points in a single post. I pay one buck LESS to the NYT per month than I do The Banter, and still I am worried about the percentage of conservative agenda propaganda that sneaks through, despite their impeccable journalism on other fronts. Mainly in the editorial section, but it creeps in elsewhere. Are their warring factions in the newsroom? Same goes with ABC Nightly News (the national broadcast), whose "normalize Trump" agenda is getting more and more overt. Already, my local ABC affiliate (owned by Sinclair Media) infects otherwise honest local journalism with must-run corporate propaganda pieces. Zooming out to your podcast discussion, and it's quite clear most every mainstream outlet is cheering for a horserace season and Trump victory which could become a self-fulfilling prophecy. And for the love of Todd, could the Banter be one of the media outlets to qualify survey results as, "BLANK PERCENT of those surveyed feel..." instead of "blank percent of ALL AMERICANS feel...." --- because its impossible for surveys to reflect actual populations -- people inclined to take surveys are vastly different from people who are too busy for that shit. And as for that Canadian family, I balance feeling glad they are miserable with feeling sad for the children, born into a lifetime of forced labor and heaven knows what other forms of abuse.
I guess I could have worded it differently, but that's the point I was trying to make. One moment, the home page features some solid and objective journalism, and the next refresh, I think I clicked on Fox News by mistake.
I stopped the NYT’s in favor or the AP associated press, no opinions just news, facts, and you form your own. NYT only $4 per month but it became too much to read when the AP had the same but quicker on the draw. Had to downsize. They both report the same breaking news. AP is Free too.
I appreciate your candor and points of view and would never cancel my long-time subscription just because I disagree with you on something. (Should I bring up when you disagreed with me and blocked me? Nah, decade old water under the bridge.)
What I do find concerning, however, is the self-fulfilling prophecy (is ouroboros more accurate?) of talking about Biden’s age. People keep saying it’s a legit subject because people are saying it’s a legit subject.
And if it has to be discussed, it very (extremely) rarely is discussed honestly in context. That Biden *is* more than capable of doing the job of President very well, the whole age issue *is* a Republican talking point because they have nothing legitimate to go after him for, Trump is also old, and, more than anything else, there is NO way to replace Biden at this point without absolutely crippling the Democratic chance at retaining the presidency.
Haven’t turned my phone to airplane mode either. But I also don’t use my phone to make calls when flying.
It should be noted that the article does go on to say you must follow instructions of airplane personnel so if they tell you to turn on airplane mode and you don’t they could still come after you.
On the age issue there is one point I’d make (while acknowledging that ‘politically’ it doesn’t matter) I read loads of political biographies and watch docos of politicians from all over the world, one thing I’ve seen so often it’s basically a cliche is just about every ex world leader speaking after leaving office says some version of ‘I wish I’d got the job when I was older, I know so much more now’
I think it was Blair (but memory might be tricking me) who spent a page in his book lamenting a political culture that prizes youth and pushes people like him into the top job before they’ve built more experience
One thing I’ve never seen is an ex pol say ‘thank God I was young when I did the job so I had the energy/juice/whatever NYT word is this week to do the job
I know it doesn’t matter at this point but it’s just a fact that they all say the same thing
Blair continues to thank his lucky stars that he’s not sitting in a cell in Den Haag rather than the plush post-politician life he’s enjoyed since. History isn’t going to look kindly on him or shrub but he doesn’t care because he’s got all the worldly goods he could wish for.
Idiots! Have they never read what happened to the US citizens who immigrated to Russia in the early part of the 20th century?
They must’ve done zero research to trust that government.
I hope they escaped the mad hoards of LGTBQ’s who would’ve at some point done NOTHING!!!
Excellent summary.

And no, I'm not being hyperbolic.
Absolutely. Stay tuned!
Awesome, absolutely!
I wish that blubbering idiot would do a deep dive

Now that's a recommendation! :)
“the percentage of conservative agenda propaganda that sneaks through”
What “sneaks through”? They publish Republican propaganda in headlines on their front page!
I guess I could have worded it differently, but that's the point I was trying to make. One moment, the home page features some solid and objective journalism, and the next refresh, I think I clicked on Fox News by mistake.
I would say the same happens in their editorial pages.

Yeah, that’s my comment you posted.

Your points are always welcome Christopher!
I do appreciate that, Ben!
I’d be worried if we agreed on everything. :-)

Ben; the answer to your question is the Trump Times is, itself, horse shit.
