Why do so many protests for Arab causes descend into violence and civil unrest?

Because their Hamas heroes are violent anti-Jewish racists, and they’ve told everyone since October 8 that they admire Palestinian terrorism, and especially the Hamas atrocities. It’s out there in the open - anti Zionists are badly hidden anti-Jewish racists, and their token Jews do not Jew-wash this fact.

These people and MAGA are two sides of the same coin; neither can be reached, and both live in an alternate reality…:)

The same reason protests for other causes do?

These same students were silent when Hamas, a known anti-Semitic terrorist group, was chosen as security for Palestine putting their people in peril should Israel have a reason to attack. These same students are misinformed when it comes to foreign policy and actual history. Maybe professors who support the protests should be using this movement as a teachable moment to address how oppression and power structures shape events.

"the judge in his hush money trial appears to be unafraid of punishing him"

If that were true Trump would already be in jail for contempt. As it is this, "unafraid of punishing him" judge will "consider" whether jail time is warranted if (when) Trump violates his gag order again.

Judge Merchan is doing a good job, but doesn't deserve to be described as unafraid of punishing Trump. Any other "regular" defendant would have been sanctioned and then imprisoned long ago.

A comment by Tony Marcus that sounds spot on to me:

“[the] resurgence of anti-Semitism is not unrelated to … insisting that Israel=Judaism. Presumably, this is to inspire Jews to support that government regardless of what they do, but the converse of this is that, when Israel is a huge abuser of human rights, which they are right now, many people believe that thesis, and go "Oh, Israel's acting horribly, so all Jews must be to blame".
