“And this is whole problem with the [Republican voters]: They are so focused on how do we punish [the libs] that they don’t care and are not focused on what is actually in the best interests of the American people.”

Fixed that for you, Tulsi.

The lack of self-awareness of the MAGA crowd is a stunning as ever.

“Carlson asked them the following:

“Has Putin ever called me a racist? Has he threatened to get me fired for disagreeing with him? Has he shipped every middle-class job in my town to Russia? Did he manufacture a worldwide pandemic that wrecked my business and kept me indoors for two years? Is he teaching my children to embrace racial discrimination?”

The answer to most of Carlson’s questions, of course, is “No, but Trump has.”

Every Republican accusation is a confession.

I agree wholeheartedly with a lot of this. My one issue is that you keep classifying them as alt-Left. They aren't Left. They are the Libertarian Right, just as the Alt-Right is just the Right now, by and large. Its a easy term that lacks rhetorical merit. It also sets us in the Left as somehow ok with their views and not your allies instead, those I disgree with sometimes (often greatly) but otherwise feel some kinship to.

Taibbi has been a special disappointment. That apology was never posted to Twitter, his largest audience. That's where he fishes for new readers, hence thats where, if serious, would have posted his mea culpa if he really meant it. Thats why I.really resent (not with you) people giving him any credit for it. He does a lot of CYA and should not be given a lick of credit for such half-heartedness.

Also interesting is the facf that many of the ditto bots are off his and others timelines all of a sudden, like they came from Russia?

Finally, this moment has been quite clarifying of who is a tankie vs. who isn't. Some have been truly disappointing to me. For example, I used to enjoy Chris Hedges, even if he often got way too preachy. He, like so many others, condemn this attack with many caveats that excuse the intention/reaction, but condemn the action. This has made me lose all respect for them, the plausible excuse of them being on RT but being independent (like Shatner) clearly being wiped away by this false equivocation.

This extends beyond even this primary sources to the people who publish them wifhout editorial discretion like a Robert Shreer, a man I used to have a lot of respect for, but who prints Greenwald's nonsense. It really is too bad, as much of the MSM is compromised and bias, but not all. Ultimately, its really why editors were always needed. I realize I am writing this on SS, a place where many have gone to escape editorial oversight. While it is true that editors can gatekeep in ways that are fundamentally against the pursuit of truth, often killing worthwhile exposes in a desire to retain access, they can also provide the kinds of refinement and friendly adverserial input that can lead to better work by those on a beat or who opine.
