0:44 “Democrats are afraid to fight fire with fire”
I am reminded of something I read once about an English colonel in World War I who was presented with some intercepted enemy communications and refused to read them because “A gentleman doesn’t read another gentleman’s mail.”
It’s a nice and honorable thought, and who isn’t in favor of honor and niceness? But a battlefield where the other guy is trying to kill you is not the place for consulting Miss Manners.
The idea of “when they go low we go high“ is dangerous. It’s a good approach to begin with, to try to return them to following some sense of “norms“ and proper ways of dealing with each other. But when the other side shows continually that they have absolutely no interest in anything other than your ultimate destruction, strongly objecting in the most strenuous terms is really just joining them in their efforts to destroy yourself.
Thank you for writing back to me as quickly as you did. I bet you could have said that you knew Santos from way back when and who would have questioned that since everything about him is fictitious. Now it appears that that paragon of virtue, Rep. Matt Gaetz of Florida, has come to Santos's rescue, telling fellow Republicans not to shun him. In the meantime, eight Republicans have called on the newly minted Rep. to resign from his position. As you know, Santos remains defiant despite the calls for him to give up his post. I'll look forward to hearing your opinion on the matter if you discuss the Santos scandal next week. To me, this whole matter epitomizes the moral rot within the Republican Party.
I welcome all of you back after your celebrating the New Year. I enjoyed your first podcast together in the New Year, but I was wondering why the George Santos scandal was not addressed this time. Combined with the new Biden classified documents kerfuffle, this story is now all the rage for sometime now - ever since Santos was sworn in after feckless Kevin McCarthy was finally voted in as speaker after 15 attempts. I would imagine that you will be addressing this disturbing story next week then.
We were originally planning on discussing it. I even had a lame joke all lined up about me and Santos spending Christmas together in Los Angeles fighting terrorists at Nakatomi Plaza but we ran long on other segments and had to pass on it. Depending on what the news is this week, we might have time to get into that story next time.

The media has been trying to manufacture a Biden scandal ever since one of his dogs bit a Secret Service agent.
