This is one of those “things I will never understand”.
I mean , I get why there is some (some) rationale for giving a sitting President some shielding from having to deal with civil suits. It prevents folks from harassing with continual baseless, politically-motivated claims.
But from *criminal* charges? It is declaring “Yes, this person *IS* above the law.“ That a president can commit crimes and we cannot hold them to account for it. Not even for crimes they committed BEFORE they were in office.
Y’know, you could save yourself some effort if you just made the “Quote of the Week” a “Paraphrase of the Week”. Then you could just post
Once again someone said, “Boris Johnson/Donald Trump lied about what they were going to do so they could once again make things worse for people.”
and be done with it.
