A few items. Per my comment on the Emergency Meeting episode, Trump's VP is gonna be Don Jr. My second guess will be Dougie (safest, less baggage, though there's tons of video of him bashing Trump, but the BASE will never see it). Next, Sinclair Media. The affiliate here in Seattle is KOMO-4, an ABC affiliate. And I'm pretty sure it's the top-ranked newscast in the city. Well produced, faster paced than KING (NBC) and KIRO (CBS). But with the superior newscast comes all the embedded media. Their anchors build trust with top-notch reporting, and then effortlessly shove Sinclair's medicine down your throat with the mandatory reads that set up video pieces they are forced to play. KOMO is one of the few outlets that call the crime/unhoused crisis in the city for what it is -- a drug addiction crisis. But then that marquee reporting gets tarnished by "Full Measure" with Sharyl Attkisson pieces -- she is a softer version of Candace Owens, but just as ignorant, malicious, and dangerous. Full Measure includes daily opinion pieces masked as hard news segments, plus a weekly series that runs on Sundays. And final note, I know you record the POD on Thursdays, but I hope you wait a day this week so we can get your comments/reviews of the Thursday night debate!

We should all be so lucky for Trump to be so stupid to pick Jr.

I don’t think Trump will pick either of those guys. Besides Rubio’s weaknesses that y’all described, there’s the “small hands” comment from ‘16. Vance, also, spent a little too much time shit-talking Trump. (He does have the advantage of having a short name; Bob has argued , somewhat plausibly, that Trump doesn’t want anyone whose name is longer — thus bigger on the signs — than his.) And I think his eye makeup would turn Trump off. So of the three, Burgum is the last one standing, but looks weak. Stefanik is out because of the long name thing. Noem (short name, although Trump probably thinks it’s spelled “Nome”) was a possibility, and may still be, animal abuse accusations notwithstanding. Nancy Mace (short name, Dixie woman) is also a possibility. It might be someone completely out of left field, a la Palin. 🤔😉😊

Far be it from me to defend Politico, but when I saw that headline, I inferred that they were quoting the ad, which used the phrase “convicted criminal” — just like I just did. 🤔😉😊

I'm sure but they also know what it looks like when they do and they did it anyway.

I’ve been saying (as a former employee in, and still observer of, the broadcast industry) for a LONG time that ownership limits need to be reinstated. It doesn’t need to be quite as restrictive as it was (seven AM, seven FM, five TV), but one entity owning literally hundreds of stations (Sinclair owns 294) creates a quasi-monopoly, particularly in those markets. Somehow including cable channels in those limits is also crucial.🤔😉😊
