“The GOP will howl about political persecution but it’s not clear that this will resonate beyond their base.”
But it might resonate with the leaders of the Democratic Party. That’s always going to be a concern: Democrats tend to back down when bullies tell them they are being mean.
We need them to turn the Republicans and say “Fuck you!!!“ not “I’m sorry. Let’s see if we can work together.“
"Don’t be surprised if Trump either casts himself as a messianic cult figure surrounded at all times by loyalists willing to kill and die for him or flees the country, declaring himself a president-in-exile whose rightful place in the Oval Office was 'stolen.'" That's the playbook for his grievance-based diatribe for the next 4 years. I say, "Lock him up."
One of the accurate criticisms of the Democratic Party is their messaging strategies. They achieve but don't sell those achievements. They appeal in majority terms but struggle in appealing in minority terms. They assume people parse over issues like they're studying for final exams when in fact they're so damn busy and tired they only have time for bullet points. Lately fine details have been eschewed by some candidates and that has worked! Dems don't brag. Bragging and ringing your bell on a constant basis is a good thing in politics!
They are often very nice and polite- to a fault. They honor handshake deals and believe in good faith negotiations. I'm sure most *want* it to be like that. Recent events have, hopefully, ripped off the gloves and the Democrats will get some bloody knuckles. I don't know about you but I sure want them too! I want them to go on interviews and say that the Republicans are messing up attempts to fix their deliberate sabotage. Something akin to "Moscow Mitch needs to explain to the American People why he doesn't want to secure our vote, the DNA of Democracy, from nefarious foreign influence. Maybe he hates democracy. He is Moscow Mitch after all." Go on the attack. Yeah, I get it, they want to try and work with these people and punching them in the nose often isn't the best way to do it. What it does do is it speak their language and puts them on the defense so now, hopefully they'll be asked about it. Keep hammering the message as a sort of public service announcement.
There's so much the Democrats have to do to clean up this shit show. So keep talking about cleaning up the shit show and how the Republicans fucked it up to begin with.
Trump cannot run for President 2024 if he’s in Prison.
