I’ve been wondering too about the likely corruption of economic and social data, particularly with regard to the difficulties it’s likely to create for the Federal Reserve in its ongoing necessary assessments. With so few serious people in the administration (that term really now needs to be in quote marks) all we can do is watch and see how it plays out. It’ll take a lot of diligence, not a characteristic of these ratbags, to corrupt all the data, so the Fed may find itself using quite arcane trade, manufacturing and transport data and the like to infer the truth about the economy from time to time.
