“ While Fox News hasn’t openly advocated violence against minorities and liberals, they are not that far off. Tucker Carlson, for example, defended white vigilantes killing Black Lives Matter protestors in Kenosha, Wisconsin.”
I’d argue that Carlson and Fox defending white vigilantes killing BLM protesters, claiming it’s not murder but simply “maintaining order“ *IS* openly advocating violence against minorities.
And one of the problems we have these days as us working against ourselves. By refusing to call out these blatant vile acts the blatantly vile acts that they are.
We (liberals, those on the left, progressives, whatever we individually may wish to call ourselves) have a self-defeating tendency, even when harshly criticizing the right, to pull our punches. To give the benefit of doubt and allow that “they’re not openly advocating” when, yeah, they ARE.
Case in point: “Fox News is not RTLM, but it holds unique leverage over the government, is accountable to no one, and routinely exacerbates racial and political tensions in America.”
It very much occupies a similar position as RTLM, is calling for the same things as RTLM so how is it “not”?
“Hutus killed their neighbors and men even killed their own Tutsi wives in an orgy of death and destruction”
Not every specific incident gets reported of course so there may have been some that we didn’t hear of, but I can’t help but wonder how many Hutu wives murdered their Tutsi husbands. Far, far fewer than the other way around I’m sure.
fine work
Thank you Alice!

I can see that argument, but it's not in RTLM territory. Tucker Carlson is the closest thing to it though.
Maybe. But “they are not that far off”.
