A quick note: we’re releasing this episode of The Emergency Meeting Podcast for free. This is usually a Banter Members feature but we felt it was important to give as much attention to Mehdi Hasan’s flawless demolition of Matt Taibbi’s #TwitterFiles journalism as possible. Why? Because Taibbi is becoming one of the worst propagator of disinformation in the media. We have reported on Taibbi’s horrendous journalism for years now, but he has refused to speak to anyone outside of his bubble of fellow Alt journalists. Finally, a real journalist with impeccable credentials got a chance to confront Taibbi about his reporting. And the results were not pretty.
This was perhaps the most embarrassing performance of Taibbi’s career and a testament to how far he has fallen. In the podcast we listen to excruciating audio from the interview and discuss why this was such an important moment.
